Sayo Shitara

I came to New Zealand to study English while going to Takapuna Grammar School.  It is my Japanese school, Yamanote High School’s sister school. It has been 1 and a half years since I came here. I was full of anxiety and worried about my English ability and how I would get along with other people when I started.  This school was very supportive, and I had soon lost my nerves and became more confident.

There are a lot of international students from various countries that attend Takapuna Grammar, so I am able to learn about other countries’ cultures, not only New Zealand’s. At this school there is an environment where students can freely ask questions and voice their opinions openly, especially in EAP class. My English has improved so much, and I will never forget all the amazing things that I learn here.

私は、英語を勉強したく、私が通う札幌山の手高校の姉妹高校であるタカプナに留学し、もう1年半の月日が経ちました。ニュージーランドにきた時は、英語や他の人と上手くやっていけるかどうかの不安でいっぱいでしたが、留学生のためのサポートがしっかりしているので、その不安はすぐに無くなりました。
伝統あるタカプナ・グラマー・スクールでは、ニュージーランドの文化はもちろん、
違う国の留学生もたくさんいるので、他の国の文化も一緒に学ぶことができます。特に留学生の為の英語授業では、生徒が気安く発言ができる環境にあり、私の英語力を更に磨くことが出来ました。ここで学んだ事は生涯忘れられない経験となるでしょう。

I had never been to other countries before I came to New Zealand so I was nervous and I really worried about my English level when I came to New Zealand. However, I could take ESOL class and teachers helped me so I could improve my English.  Also, I could make lots of friends at Takapuna Grammar School.

I think Takapuna Grammar School is really good school. I like beautiful main building, teachers and all my friends.

It has been good experience for me to study at Takapuna Grammar School.

私はニュージーランドに来るまで、外国に行ったことがなかったので、英語がすごく不安でした。だけどESOLのクラスを選択できたのと、先生が手伝ってくれたので、英語を向上させることができました。それから、たくさん友達ができました。タカプナグラマースクールはとてもいい学校だと思います。私は、きれいなメインビルディングと先生と友達がとても好きです。タカプナグラマースクールで勉強できたことは、とても良い経験になっています。

Hello, we are from Japan. We came to New Zealand to learn English for one year. We feel Auckland is so beautiful. The sky and sea are so blue. We have improved our English alot and have a lot of friends in the school who are from different countries. Students in TGS are very kind and awesome. We like the main building because it is an old building with a long history.

Yukichi Nagayama

It has been a great experience for me to study at Takapuna Grammar School.  The learning standard of TGS is very high so it was very hard for me to follow what the teachers and the students were doing in the beginning.  However, as I have studied English at this school for nearly two years now, I can understand what is being taught in the classes.  Teachers at this school are very kind and always help international students.  Also, there are many staff who can support international students, such as managers and home-stay coordinators.  The environment for international students is absolutely perfect.  I believe that learning in Takapuna Grammar School will be one of my unforgettable memories.  

私にとって、タカプナグラマースクールで学習したことは素晴らしい経験です。この学校のレベルはとても高いので、初めは先生や生徒が何をしているのか分かりませんでしたが、この学校で２年間の英語学習を積んだ結果、今では授業内容が理解できるようになりました。先生方は優しく、いつも留学生の学習を手伝ってくれます。また、留学生を支える「マネージャー」や「ホームステイコーディネーター」といったスタッフも充実しています。留学生に対する環境は抜群です。タカプナグラマースクールでの学習することは、きっと忘れられない思い出になるでしょう。
