Takapuna Grammar School has enjoyed a relationship with since 2005 with Sapporo Yamanote Senior High School having received study tour groups. Also the Sapporo Yamanote Senior High School rugby team plays against Takapuna Grammar School every March as part of its international exchange programme.
In February 2009 Takapuna Grammar hosted 8 students and 2 staff members from Kyung Bock High School. Kyung Bock High School is a prestigious boys' school in Seoul, Korea.

Kyoto Gaidai Nishi High School
We are fortunate to host students from Kyoto Gaidai Nishi High School, in Japan, each year. These students come to Takapuna Grammar School for 5 weeks and one student remained for a full year.
Brecht Schulen
For the first 6 weeks of term 1, 2009 we hosted 3 German girls from Brecht Schulen High School in Germany. They were over here, with other students from their school, as part of an exchange programme and they were hosted by several high schools mainly on the North Shore.
