| 1. The Secondary School Business & Enterprise Programme |
|
Foundations in Business & Enterprise The Business & Enterprise programme is established for students at each of the three senior year levels. It gives current students a strong foundation in business and enterprise establishing a basis for future study or opportunity. The courses prescribed at each level are:
- English Literature - Mathematics - Accounting/Economics - A Science - Thinking Skills - Business Studies, Entrepreneurship and Leadership
The course is structured around these options. Students apply and are selected to be in the Takapuna Grammar School Centre for Business & Enterprise.
Takapuna Grammar School is committed to NCEA however the Takapuna Grammar Centre of Business & Enterprise will take up Cambridge International for the Business & Enterprise programme as NZQA does not offer the assessment of subjects we think are vital for business and enterprise. Should NCEA offer equivalent achievement standards in the future we will offer these.
Student performance in the Takapuna Grammar School Centre for Business & Enterprise will be assessed by the Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A Level papers. Cambridge International is recognised and valued overseas and within New Zealand. It is important that students realise that with this qualification there must be a full commitment to one assessment package. Students who do commit to the Business & Enterprise programme will have an opportunity to pursue one additional subject of their choice, one they may hold a passion for which is not included above.
Students involved in this course will have foundations from which to launch further university study and further business opportunity and experience both in New Zealand and overseas.
The staff and students of the Business & Enterprise Programme will receive advice and assistance from The University of Auckland Business School. This commitment is secured by a memorandum of understanding between Takapuna Grammar and The University of Auckland Business School which is aimed at improving the quality of education in business and enterprise in New Zealand and the promotion of an enterprise culture.
