Music
The Music Department, along with Drama and Dance, is housed within a recently completed Performing Arts complex. Music is offered as a subject from Year 9 to Year 13. Either academic classes covering Levels 1 to 4 NCEA, or Senior Performance Music (emphasising practical Music and including some Unit Standards) are available at senior level.
An itinerant music tuition system operates in school time with 12 tutors teaching all orchestral instruments plus drums and electric and acoustic guitars and bass.
The Music Department supports a strong co-curricular program with 5 choirs, 2 orchestras, 2 jazz bands, several chamber groups and several rock groups running throughout the year. These groups often tour nationally and internationally.
